Ash Grove Cement names new president

New Ash Grove president

J. Randall Vance has been named president and chief operating officer at Ash Grove Cement Co.

Vance had worked the past three years as senior vice president of administration and chief financial officer at the Overland Park-based company. Ash Grove said it has launched an executive search for a new chief financial officer.

The president position has been vacant since Charles Wiedenhoft died in 2010. In the interim, Charles Sunderland, Ash Grove’s chairman and chief executive, handled those responsibilities.

Before joining Ash Grove, Vance was senior vice president, chief financial officer, and treasurer of Interstate Bakeries Corp. He also held corporate finance positions at Farmland Industries Inc.

Ash Grove, which is privately owned by the Sunderland family, produces eight million tons of cement annually from eight plants across the country.

Occupational care center moves

U.S. HealthWorks has moved its urgent care center from Olathe to a new facility at 15319 W. 95th St. in Lenexa. The company, a subsidiary of Dignity Health, is one of the nation’s largest operators of occupational healthcare centers.

Manhattan debt rating

Moody’s Investors Service has added an Aa2 rating to$950,000 in securities from the city of Manhattan, Kan. Proceeds from the bond sales will provide funding for capital improvement projects.

Moody’s said the rating partly reflects the city’s stable economy “anchored by the presence of two significant institutions — Fort Riley and Kansas State University.”
