Shawnee Mission breaks ground for new schools
Shawnee Mission school officials — and some students — broke ground last Wednesday on a new Trailwood Elementary School, 5101 W. 95th St., and a new Center for Academic Achievement at 8200 W. 71st St., the former site of Antioch Middle School, as part of a building blitz this year with voter-approved bond money.
Rain put off the groundbreaking at Crestview Elementary in Merriam until Sept. 14 at 9:30 a.m. Briarwood Elementary at 5300 W. 86th St. in Prairie Village will break ground Sept. 25. The district also will rebuild Rhein Benninghoven Elementary and one other yet-to-be-identified elementary.
