Frontier Justice shooting range to donate fees to help ailing police officer
A Lee’s Summit shooting range will donate all proceeds from range fees collected Thursday to a police detective battling a rare flesh-eating infection, officials announced Wednesday.
Joshua Ward, 34, has been critical condition at St. Luke’s Hospital for a week after being diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis. He has undergone several surgeries to remove damaged tissue.
Money collected Thursday at Frontier Justice, 800 N.E. Jones Industrial Drive, will help Ward’s family with medical expenses.
“We feel a responsibility to our community, our neighbors, and our police officers, who work tirelessly to keep us all safe,” co-owner Bren Brown said in a written statement. “Josh is well-known in our community for his work on the police force.”
A GoFundMe site has been set up to raise money to defray expenses.
