Santa-Cali-Gon Days Festival continues through the weekend
Not even minor tremors from an Oklahoma earthquake could put a damper on the second day of the Santa-Cali-Gon Days Festival, which continues through the weekend in Independence.
The festival, created in 1940 to celebrate Independence history as an important stop on the Santa Fe, California and Oregon trails for pioneers traveling West, features arts, crafts and food booths, as well as live music.
It began on Sept. 2 and lasts through Sept. 5, and typically attracts 300,000 visitors over Labor Day weekend.
Festivities continue Sunday and Monday starting at 10 a.m. and lasting throughout the day at Historic Independence Square.
