Shawnee man, 33, dies in pre-dawn crash on ramp to I-635

The Kansas Highway Patrol has identified the man killed in a predawn crash Friday on the ramp to Interstate 635 as Matthew S. Doan, 33, of Shawnee.

The crash happened about 4 a.m. on the ramp from southbound Interstate 35 to northbound I-635.

Doan, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, struck a guardrail as he was negotiating the curve of the ramp.

Doan overcorrected and ran off the roadway through a grassy ditch. The pickup became airborne and crossed over I-635.

The pickup came to rest in a ditch between I-635 and the ramp from northbound I-35.

Doan, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene of the crash.
