Johnson County government phones, internet restored

Johnson County government’s phones, email and internet service have been restored after they were knocked out by a lightning strike overnight Tuesday.

The outage came on the deadline day for August vehicle tag renewals. The state of Kansas announced Wednesday it would a 10-day grace period for drivers who weren’t able to renew their tags in person Wednesday.

County staff completed work restoring the systems Wednesday evening.
