KC Star wins several first place awards in Missouri journalism contest
The Kansas City Star won several first-place awards in the annual Missouri Associated Press Managing Editors newswriting and photo competition.
Laura Bauer won first place in investigative or in-depth reporting for a series of stories about a drowning that occurred after a Highway Patrol arrest at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Thomas and Mary Sanchez, third in spot news; sports staff, second in spot sports, and Gregorian, Randy Covitz, Sam Mellinger and Tod Palmer third; Hannah Ritchie, third in headline writing.
