Munday on Monday: ‘Serving suggestion’
‘Serving suggestion’
I read the box and slapped my head
To see what the “suggestion” said:
It pictured milk and bowl as guide,
A placemat and a spoon beside.
The tiny words I now observe —
“Suggestion” of the way to serve.
To think that all these years I ate
This cereal in brutish state!
By hand I’d scoop it from the box;
Directly in my mouth I’d toss
The golden flakes. (I’d breakfast-grazed
As if by wolves I had been raised.)
I might have used a bowl and spoon — er —
If but I’d seen “suggestion” sooner.
