Mother breaks out car window in Overland Park to get child from hot car
A woman broke out her car window Wednesday after accidentally locking her 7-month-old child inside.
Overland Park police said the child was only in the vehicle for a few minutes.
It appeared that the woman inadvertently locked the keys in her car when she got out, according to police. She called 911 but broke the window before help arrived.
Earlier Wednesday, Overland Park police said that in the past week, the department had responded to three other calls involving children left in hot cars and 18 similar calls involving animals.
“This is unacceptable,” the department said in a Facebook post.
In Wednesday’s incident, the child did not have to be taken to a hospital, a police spokesman said.
