Third Fairfax Bridge detonation set for Thursday
The third and final controlled detonation of the Fairfax Bridge over the Missouri River is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday.
Both northbound and southbound traffic on U.S. 69 will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A designated public viewing area is E.H. Young Park, 1001 Argosy Parkway in Riverside.
Both the Fairfax and Platte Purchase bridges will be replaced with one structure that is scheduled to open to traffic in December 2016. It is a joint project of the Missouri and Kansas departments of transportation.
