Storms will likely bypass most of Kansas City
It appears that most of Kansas City will remain dry Tuesday evening as storms likely will bypass the area.
Some areas could see isolated to scattered storms from 5 p.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday. These storms could produce heavy rain and some high wind gusts.
While the storms could pop up at any time, the likelihood for any strong storms would be near or after sunset, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill.
The Kansas City area has a 20 to 40 percent chance of rain, so most outdoor plans should be safe.
Dangerous heat is expected to move into the area Thursday and Friday, with highs climbing into the middle to upper 90s. The heat index is expected to approach 100 to 110 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. A air quality alert is in effect for Wednesday, June 15. Ozone levels are expected to be high.
