Woman dies while in custody of the Platte County Sheriff’s Office
A woman who was arrested and in the custody of the Platte County Sheriff’s Office died in the back of a transport van Thursday, according to authorities.
The woman, who was in her 50s, was found in medical distress in the van after a five-minute trip.
Lifesaving efforts were attempted but the woman could not be revived, according to the sheriff’s office.
Platte County Sheriff Mark Owen asked the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the death.
The name of the woman was not immediately released, pending notification of family members.
