Firefighter injured while fighting KC house fire
A firefighter was injured and two people suffered smoke inhalation in a house fire Tuesday in Kansas City.
The firefighter was taken to a hospital for stitches after he cut his hand, said Jimmy Walker, Kansas City fire battalion chief.
A resident of the house and a friend refused treatment for smoke inhalation they suffered while trying to put out the fire themselves, Walker said.
The fire was reported about 11:40 a.m. in the 5700 block of Lydia Avenue.
Arriving firefighters reported seeing smoke coming from the two-story house.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
