Man dies in fall at Leawood apartment complex

Leawood police are investigating the Friday morning death of a 58-year-old man who fell while working at an apartment complex.

Officers and emergency rescue crews were called to the complex in the 5200 block of West 115th Place about 8:10 a.m. Friday.

Police said the man, a Kansas City resident, was working as a subcontractor on a construction project when he fell an undetermined distance.

Based on initial witness reports, police said the fall appeared accidental and no foul play is suspected.

Federal officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will also be investigating.
