Suspicious death in Lawrence becomes homicide investigation

Lawrence police and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation have opened a homicide case following the discovery of a woman’s body Saturday.

Officers found the deceased shortly after 1 p. m. in a residence in the 1100 block of New York Street. She has not been identified.

Police cited “suspicious circumstances” surrounding the woman’s death but have not elaborated.
