Wreck on U.S. 24 in Independence leaves one motorcycle rider dead, one injured
A two-vehicle wreck Saturday night on U.S. 24 at Blue Mills Road killed one motorcycle rider and injured another, according to Independence Police.
The crash occurred about 8 p.m. when a vehicle headed eastbound on U.S. 24 struck a motorcycle that was making a left turn from westbound U.S. 24 to Blue Mills Road.
Two people who were on the motorcycle were injured and taken to a hospital. One, a female, died from her injuries Saturday night. The other, a male, had life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the eastbound vehicle was treated at the scene for minor injuries, police said.
Police continued to investigate the wreck.
