Ozone alert issued for Saturday
The summer’s first ozone alert has been issued for Saturday.
The orange-level alert indicates an unhealthy amount of ground-level ozone, or smog. The warning was issued by the Mid-America Regional Council.
People who are sensitive to air pollution or who have breathing or heart problems are advised to limit their exposure to the outdoors between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
People are also asked to refrain from unnecessary driving, mowing or grilling. Bus fares are reduced on ozone alert days.
