Kansas City road works: Metcalf bridge to close again
The Metcalf Avenue bridge over the Blue River just reopened in late May after being closed for months, but it will close again Monday.
This time the work is supposed to take only nine days.
Overland Park announced Friday that Metcalf between 167th and 179th streets will close at 8:30 a.m. Monday and reopen after 5 p.m. Aug. 5.
Crews will attach a gas service line to the bridge and apply a final surface material.
Alternate routes are U.S. 69 and Mission Road.
Reminders:
Westbound Interstate 435 will be completely closed at Roe overnight Saturday.
The interchange at Kansas 7/U.S. 169/151st Street/Interstate 35 will be a mess this weekend with various lane restrictions and detours. It’s part of ongoing pavement reconstruction.
