Two-vehicle accident claims 11-year-old passenger
An 11-year-old boy was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Friday at Blue Ridge Boulevard and Sterling Avenue, according to Independence police.
The boy’s name has not been released, and police are continuing their investigation.
The crash occurred at 10:20 a.m. when the driver of a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, northbound on Sterling, turned left at Blue Ridge into the path of a 2006 Chevrolet Impala traveling south on Sterling.
The driver of the Impala and four passengers, including the 11-year-old, were taken to a hospital. The boy died shortly after arriving there. He was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
