A second detonation of the Fairfax Bridge is set for 9 a.m. Saturday. The blast will bring down the southern section of the truss spans of the Missouri River bridge, which is to be replaced.

Both northbound and southbound U.S. 69 will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A public viewing area will be at E.H. Young Riverfront Park, 1001 Argosy Parkway in Riverside. Access to the levees will not be allowed.

The northern part of the truss spans of the bridge will be detonated later, as will the adjacent Platte Purchase Bridge. A new span is to be completed in December 2016.
