Man’s body is found in parking lot of Flying J truck stop in Kansas City

Police on Wednesday morning were investigating the death of a man found in the parking lot of the Flying J truck stop at Interstate 435 and Front Street in Kansas City.

The body was found about 5:15 a.m. at the truck stop at 1300 N. Corrington Ave.

The 63-year-old Kansas City man appeared to have been run over by a semitrailer, according to Sgt. Bill Mahoney with the Kansas City Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit.

Police are trying to reach the victim’s next of kin before they release his name. The man was a frequent visitor at the business.

Investigators were trying to determine how the apparent accident occurred. The victim might have crawled under a semi to sleep and got run over when the truck pulled out, Mahoney said.

The driver might not have known the victim was run over, Mahoney said.

Police questioned drivers at the truck stop and were trying to identify who had left earlier in the morning.
