‘American Idol’ auditions come to Kansas City

Several hundred wannabe superstars lined up outside the University of Missouri- Kansas City campus Monday to audition for “American Idol.”

The American Idol Bus Tour stopped in the Swinney Commons on UMKC’s Volker Campus from about 9 a.m. until 5 in the blistering heat.

“We’re excited American Idol contacted us with this unique and fun opportunity,” Mel Tyler, UMKC Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, said in a statement.

Top contestants might appear on Season 14 of “American Idol,” which will air in 2015 on Fox.
