I-35 opened again after brief shutdown, search for explosives

Southbound Interstate 35 was briefly shut down Wednesday night at Missouri 92 near Kearney while Clay County sheriff’s deputies investigated a vehicle for explosives, according to authorities.

No explosives were found, and the road was reopened about 10:30 p.m.

The sheriff’s office had announced the shutdown about 9:30 p.m., saying a police dog had indicated possible explosives in a vehicle.

After searching the vehicle and the surrounding area, the sheriff’s office reopened I-35.
