There’s above and beyond the call of duty, but this weekend, a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper went above and behind to help a Gardner woman.

Behind, as in behind a lawnmower.

Trooper Robert Beabout was on routine patrol Friday when he spotted the woman struggling to mow her lawn’s high grass.

He stopped and offered to help.

After Beabout mowed for a few minutes, off-duty Overland Park Police Capt. Jim Sutterby came by. He pitched in to help finish the job.

And before they left, the officers made arrangements to get the woman help in the future.
