Victim is identified in fatal crash on I-470
A driver killed Thursday in a wreck on Interstate 470 in south Kansas City has been identified as Matthew VanLew of Holden, Mo.
VanLew, 38, was driving east on the interstate just before 6 p.m. Thursday when his Plymouth Neon drifted onto the shoulder and then off the road into a grassy area.
Police said the car became airborne and struck the underside of the Raytown Road bridge. The car landed on its roof.
VanLew died at the scene.
