Elementary students bring knives onto school bus

Students were threatened with knives on a school bus Wednesday afternoon.

The students were riding home from Creekmoor Elementary School in Raymore when two students reportedly each pulled out a knife from their backpacks.

No students were injured during the incident, which occurred in Belton.

Kindergartner Kristopher Russell, 5, said one boy waved his knife at him.

“It felt like he was trying to stab us,” he said.

Kristopher’s mother, Jennifer Russell, said she notified Belton police after learning what had transpired.

Lt. Brad Swanson with the Belton police said the bus driver pulled over and confiscated the knives.

The Raymore-Peculiar School District is investigating the incident with law enforcement.
