Unusual call leads Independence police to car filled with dogs
A call to assist animal control officers Wednesday had Independence police recalling the old circus skit involving a clown car.
But instead of clown after clown after clown popping out of a car, this call involved dog after dog after dog — about 20 dogs in all.
Officers were dispatched to East 23rd Street and South Harris Avenue after someone called police reporting a vehicle filled with many dogs, according to a post on the Independence Police Department’s Facebook page.
“It turned out that these rescue dogs were all well taken care of and just on their way to a dog show,” police said in the post. “They are all trained and apparently have their own special talents.”
Some of the smaller dogs were still being trained and “only know how to give kisses,” police said.
Police later sent out a tweet about the incident bearing two hashtags: #doggyclowncar and #realcallforservice.
