Tornado spotted northeast of Cameron
A tornado was spotted eight miles northeast of Cameron shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday, moving north toward Winston.
Earlier in the afternoon, a tornado watch was issued for parts of northern Missouri as storms moved in from Kansas, according to the National Weather Service.
The tornado watch is expected to last until 9 pm., covering St. Joseph and stretching north and east across the state.
In Winston, several residents took shelter in a gas station as two funnel clounds passed by, said Rhonda Morris, an employee at the station. Morris said she didn’t see any signs of damage as the storms moved on.
“Everyone’s safe,” she said. “A lot of wind and a lot of hail.”
