Woman injured in wreck on Interstate 435
A 19-year-old woman was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after an accident Monday afternoon on Interstate 435 at Gregory Boulevard in Kansas City.
The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. when the Chrysler PT Cruiser the woman was driving stopped on the inside shoulder along the northbound lanes of I-435, according to Kansas City police.
The back end of the car may have been jutting out into the inside lane of traffic, police said. The car was struck by a Ford Explorer, which pushed the PT Cruiser into the cable barrier.
The woman was not wearing a seat belt and suffered life-threatening head injuries. The driver of the Ford Explorer, an 80-year-old man, was also injured in the crash and was transported to a hospital.
The man’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.
