Child struck by vehicle and injured in Independence

An 8-year-old child was taken to a hospital after being struck by a vehicle Friday in Independence.

The incident was reported shortly before 7 p.m. near East 30th Terrace and Lee’s Summit Road, according to police.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
