Woman in critical condition after Raytown house fire Thursday
A woman injured in a Raytown house fire Thursday remained hospitalized in critical condition a day later, according to authorities.
The woman had been rescued from a burning house in the 7000 block of Hedges Avenue, where fire crews with the Raytown Fire Protection District were called Thursday about 5 p.m.
Neighbors had tried to enter the house to save the woman, and fire crews forced their way through the front door. Firefighters rescued the woman, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Two dogs and two cats died in the fire.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office was called to assist in the investigation. The fire was believed to be accidental but the cause has not yet been determined, Raytown fire officials said.
