Lincoln Prep, Blue Valley North are ranked No. 1 in Missouri and Kansas by U.S. News & World Report

The best high schools in Kansas and Missouri are in the Kansas City area, according to the latest rankings from U.S. News & World Report.

Lincoln College Preparatory Academy in Kansas City ranked No. 1 for the second year in a row among Missouri high schools on the list published Wednesday. Park Hill High ranked sixth in Missouri.

In Kansas, Blue Valley North was No. 1, while seven other Johnson County high schools made the top 10.

Blue Valley High, Blue Valley Southwest High School, Olathe Northwest High School, Blue Valley Northwest High, Blue Valley West High, De Soto High School and Mill Valley High School made the top 10 list.

The Best High Schools Rankings list is published every year by U.S. News and World Report.

Schools are ranked partly on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college.

Lincoln Prep ranked No. 1 in Missouri last year as well and 67th in the nation. In Kansas last year, Rock Creek Junior/Senior High School in St. George ranked No. 1.
