A semitrailer overturned and spilled its load of lumber, closing southbound Interstate 435 at Interstate 35 in Claycomo for much of Thursday’s morning rush hour.

Although one lane reopened around 9 a.m., the right lane of southbound I-435 remained closed for much of Thursday while crews picked up the lumber board by board.

The crash occurred before 4 a.m. near where I-435 crosses over I-35. Southbound I-435 traffic was diverted onto southbound I-35 while I-435 was closed.

The closure caused traffic to back up beyond Shoal Creek Parkway along southbound I-435.

All lanes of southbound I-435 reopened shortly after 3 p.m.

No one was injured in the crash.
