If you’ve already complete part or all of your spring planting, don’t go to bed Monday night without protecting the plants — a hard freeze is possible.

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for much of the Kansas City region. The warning remains in effect from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Temperatures by sunrise Tuesday are expected to be about 32 degrees in Kansas City to about 25 degrees in northeast Missouri. The subfreezing temperatures are expected to last for several hours, according to the National Weather Service.

The subfreezing temperatures could damage or kill crops and sensitive vegetation if they aren’t protected.

The good news, according to the National Weather Service local Facebook page, is that warmer temperatures in the next two could make this the final freeze of the season.
