Motel in Lee’s Summit damaged by fire
No one was injured when an apparent electrical fire broke out Saturday at a Lee’s Summit motel.
The fire was reported just after 9:30 a.m. at America’s Best Value Inn, 1020 S.E. Blue Parkway.
Fire crews found a small blaze in a space between the second and third floors. Water from a burned plastic sprinkler pipe helped keep the fire from spreading, according to Lee’s Summit fire officials.
Wood trusses between the second and third floors were heavily damaged as well as four rooms.
The motel had to be closed because of the damage and employees were helping guests find other accommodations.
