Lee’s Summit home heavily damaged by fire
Improperly discarded smoking materials are being blamed for a Saturday morning fire that extensively damaged a Lee’s Summit home.
Residents of the home in the 400 block of Northeast Station Drive had gotten out safely when fire crews arrived just before 9 a.m. Saturday.
The fire was brought under control after about 30 minutes.
Heat from the fire also damaged the siding on an adjoining residence.
Investigators determined that the fire started on a rear deck and caused the propane tank on a grill to explode.
