Jackson County deputies investigate human remains found near I-435 and Truman Road
Jackson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating human remains found about 7 p.m. Tuesday in a wooded area near Interstate 435 and Truman Road, according to the sheriff’s office.
The bones, like a skull found in Wyandotte County on Wednesday, were discovered by someone hunting for mushrooms. Morel mushrooms are in season in April, driving many enthusiasts to wooded areas to search for them.
Three sets of human remains have been found at different locations in the Kansas City area over two days.
The find near I-435 and Truman Road consisted only of bones and did not appear to belong to a child, according to the sheriff’s office. The bones were sent to the medical examiner’s office to be examined by an anthropologist.
The cause of death is unknown.
