Severe thunderstorms with heavy rains, hail and wind possible Wednesday in Kansas City
Kansas City area residents will want to get out and enjoy pleasant but breezy weather Tuesday because stormy and dreary weather is on the horizon.
Tuesday’s temperatures will climb into the upper 60s by mid-afternoon. As the temperature climbs, the relative humidity is expected to drop leading to an elevated concern for grass fires.
Although some recent rains lessen those concerns, dormant plants could quickly ignite and lead to fires that burn out of control, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday is likely to start with rain possible in the morning. A line of strong to severe thunderstorms are then likely to form over eastern Kansas late in the afternoon and move east across the region, according to the National Weather Service.
The risk for severe weather begins about 4 p.m. Wednesday. The storms are likely to bring large hail, damaging winds and heavy rains as a cold front moves through.
Cooler temperatures with highs in the 50s will prevail through the end of the week. Skies will be mostly to partly cloudy.
