Munday on Monday: Old adage

Nothing ventured, nothing gained;

So the adage long has reigned.

Mix it up, it’s rearranged:

Nothing normal, nothing strained.

Thus for farmers, it’s explained:

Nothing planted, nothing grained.

Christmas treats must be sustained:

Nothing candied, nothing caned.

Final stanza, unrestrained:

Nothing rhyming; all is drained.
