If you’re interested in applying for the Kansas City Land Bank’s $1 house program, the deadline is Friday.

The sale is part of an initiative to eliminate blight by fixing or demolishing hundreds of dangerous vacant homes in the city. But people should be aware that these are seriously deteriorated properties that will require tens of thousands of dollars to be inhabitable.

There are about 135 dangerous houses in the Land Bank’s inventory, and the agency so far has received 34 completed applications from interested buyers.

The list of available homes, as well as other information, is at www.kcmolandbank.org.

More information is at kcmo.gov/neighborhoods/dollar-home-sale.
