One dead, two injured in Bates County crash
A head-on collision late Thursday in rural Bates County left one person dead and two others injured.
Larry Berry, 65, of Hume, Mo., died after his car was struck by another vehicle that crossed the center line of the road, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Berry’s car was traveling north on Route A just after 10 p.m. when the second car, driven by Wesley Hays, 26, of Pleasanton, Kan., his vehicle. Berry was taken to a Fort Scott, Kan., hospital. He was pronounced dead there. Hays was taken by helicopter to Research Medical Center in Kansas City with injuries described as serious.
A passenger in Berry’s car, Robert Berry, 20, received treatment at the scene for minor injuries.
