Kansas City, Kan., man killed in Saturday crash identified
A man killed in a one-vehicle crash Saturday in Kansas City, Kan., was identified as 24-year-old Brayan Josue Valladres Varela of Kansas City, Kan.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at 7 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 70 near Fifth Street. The patrol said Varela was in the exit-only lane to Fifth Street when he made an abrupt lane change to stay on the highway. His 1996 Toyota 4Runner went off the road and overturned several times. Varela, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected through the sunroof.
The crash temporarily closed eastbound traffic on I-70.
