University of Missouri-Kansas City’s provost and executive vice chancellor has accepted a position with Virginia Commonwealth University.
Gail Hackett, who has held her UMKC position since 2008, has been appointed provost and vice president of academic affairs at the school in Richmond effective March 1. She also will serve as a professor of psychology in its College of Humanities and Sciences.
“Gail Hackett’s tenure as UMKC’s chief academic officer has been marked by a commitment to excellence,” UMKC Chancellor Leo E. Morton said in a statement Tuesday.
UMKC said a national search would begin soon. Cindy Pemberton, deputy provost for academic affairs, will serve until a permanent provost is named.
