Rain showers, thunderstorms threaten Kansas City’s weekend plans

It looks like it’s going to be a wet weekend for the Kansas City area.

There is a chance for storms Friday through Monday with the best chances for storms coming Saturday and Monday.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible over northern and central Missouri Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

While severe weather isn’t expected, some of the stronger storms could produce small hail and lightning.

On Saturday, one or more rounds of thunderstorms could sweep across the area.

The potential for rain is above 50 percent all day Saturday with the heaviest rains expected to fall between 10 a.m. and midnight, according to the National Weather Service.

A few strong to potentially severe storms are possible on Saturday, especially in the evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday will be hot and humid, with highs reaching in the middle to upper 80s.

The hot and humid conditions are expected to persist throughout the weekend with highs in the lower to middle 80s Saturday, upper 80s to lower 90s on Sunday and middle 80s to lower 90s on Monday.
