Belton man dies in wreck on Interstate 70 at Blue Springs

A Belton man died in a traffic accident early Saturday on Interstate 70 in Blue Springs, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Dalton L. Johnson, 22, was killed in the accident, which was reported about 4:40 a.m. on I-70 at Woods Chapel Road.

Johnson was driving east in a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer that went off the road, hit a guardrail and speed limit sign, and flipped four or five times before coming to rest upside down, according to the patrol’s report.

Johnson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was dead at the scene, the patrol said.
