Victim in Gardner tree trimming accident identified

A man who fell to his death while trimming a tree in Gardner last week was identified Tuesday as a 47-year-old Olathe resident.

Gardner police said that Larry Dean Webb died Friday when he fell about 60 feet while working in a tree in the 200 block of North Maple Street.

Webb was an independent contractor hired by a homeowner, police said. His death has been ruled an accident.

Because of his status as an independent contractor, the incident will not be investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
