Lee’s Summit woman dies in outstate crash

A 26-year-old Lee’s Summit woman was killed in a traffic crash Friday afternoon in Morgan County, Mo.

Media reports said Collette M. Moreno was on her way to her bachelorette party at the Lake of the Ozarks.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol report, Moreno was a passenger in a vehicle that was attempting to pass another vehicle shortly before 3 p.m. on Prairie Valley Road at Missouri 5. A pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old Versailles, Mo., man was cresting a hill in the opposite direction. The two drivers swerved but the truck struck the passenger side where Moreno was sitting.

The driver of Moreno’s vehicle, 26-year-old Ashley M. Theobald of Kansas City, had minor injuries. The truck driver was not injured. All were wearing seat belts.

According to her Facebook page, Moreno was engaged to be married. According to information posted by family and friends at youcaring.com, she leaves a young son.
