I-70, closed by police investigation of a shooting, reopens

Interstate 70, closed for more than an hour Sunday night by a police investigation of a shooting, reopened around 9:40 p.m., Independence police said.

All westbound lanes of Interstate 70 had been closed between Missouri 291 and Noland Road as police walked the highway looking for evidence.

Independence police received a call at about 6:30 p. m. Sunday that a man and his daughter had been shot as they traveled west on I-70.

Both victims were taken to an area hospital. The seriousness of their injuries was not known.
