Caution Zone: Shawnee Mission Parkway blocked this weekend

A section of U.S. 56, better known as Shawnee Mission Parkway, will be closed in both directions all weekend.

The section is a three-block stretch immediately east of Interstate 35. Specifically, it’s Eby Avenue to Mackey/Terrydale streets. That includes the Antioch Road intersection. The reason is a repair and resurface project.

The closure begins at 7 p.m. Friday and is supposed to end by 6 a.m. Monday.

KDOT says businesses along this section can still be accessed by side streets. Detours will be marked.

Superior Bowen Asphalt Co. is the prime contractor on the $745,898 project.

The confluence of K-7 (U.S. 169) and 151st Street and Interstate 35 will be messed up both this weekend and next weekend for “pavement reconstruction.”

It’s complicated. Here is the news release. Detours will be marked but it’s better to avoid it if you can between 9 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday both weekends.

In Platte County, the ramp from northbound I-29 to southbound I-435 will be closed overnight both Monday and Tuesday for guardrail replacement. The closure begins at 7 p.m. each day and ends at 5 a.m.

The ramp from northbound I-435 to southbound I-29 will also be closed, and for the same reason, on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
