Fire causes heavy damage to Overland Park apartments

A fire heavily damaged several units of an Overland Park apartment building Friday.

No tenants or firefighters were injured, but fire officials said a dog died. Firefighters saved another dog.

The fire was reported just after 11 a.m. Friday at the Highland Ridge Apartments in the 11800 block of Perry Street.

Fire heavily damaged two units in the 12-unit building, and six others suffered significant smoke damage, according to the Overland Park Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
